Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, marked a significant milestone in strengthening technical training infrastructure with the visit of Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, IAS, Secretary, MSDE, to National Skill Training Institute Dehradun on 1st May 2026.
During the visit, the Secretary formally inaugurated the newly established Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) Electrician Workshop, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at enhancing the quality of instructor training in the electrical trade. The lab is equipped with modern tools, advanced training modules, and industry-relevant equipment designed to meet evolving technological standards.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary emphasized the importance of high-quality instructor training as a cornerstone for building a robust and future-ready skilled workforce. The inauguration of the CITS Electrician Lab is expected to significantly improve the hands-on training capabilities of instructor trainees, thereby strengthening the overall skill development ecosystem.

The visit also included an interaction with trainees and faculty members, where the Secretary appreciated the institute’s efforts in delivering competency-based training aligned with industry needs. The Secretary encouraged trainees to actively engage in skill upgradation and adopt emerging technologies to remain competitive in the job market.
Shri Amrit Pal Singh, Regional Director RDSDE Uttarakhand, Shri Gyan Prakash Chourasiya, Deputy Director/Principal NSTI Dehradun, Shri Aryan Jangra, Deputy Director RDSDE Uttarakhand and Senior Officers, faculty members, and trainees of NSTI Dehradun were present on the occasion. The event concluded with a tour of the institute’s facilities and a review of ongoing training programs.
